An Essex woman has won more than pounds 30,000 by backing England in the Five Nations' Championship. She staked a total of pounds 154,780 with the bookmakers William Hill on England beating Scotland, Ireland and then Wales.
England's victories have turned the original stake into pounds 186,300. Graham Sharpe, a spokesman for Hills, said the gambles have set a world record for betting on rugby union.
