Qualification for the knock-out stages of the Heineken European Cup is now surely a formality for unbeaten Wasps after their entertaining demolition of a far from outclassed Glasgow. The try count of six to one says plenty, but more telling is the fact that the bulk of the Glasgow team are part-timers; the majority of the Wasps side are full-time professionals.

It was significant therefore that the biggest cheers in an exciting Pool B match were saved for the part-timers. Wasps' prop Paddy Dunston, a full- time management accountant set the game alight when he propelled his rhinoceros- like bulk at a wavering Glasgow defence.

He was ultimately stopped, but not before his strength had paved the way for the first of Kenny Logan's two tries. Dunston continued the bulldozing rushes into the Glasgow midfield for much of the rest of a high-paced match, a feat all the more remarkable given that having played for the Vandals' side on Saturday, Dunston had been picked to sit on the bench. The late withdrawal of Will Green changed all that.

The other hot moment belonged to Glasgow's James Craig, a left wing of searing pace. He scored the try of the match after half an hour and he even had the cheek to indicate to the Wasps cover which corner he was aiming for. Ninety yards later a blistering diagonal run left the opposition open-mouthed in disbelief.

After that it was all Wasps. Even before Dunston's great effort they had a Nick Greenstock try in the bag and once more full-back Gareth Rees was in magnificent form with his kicking. He missed just one conversion and landed a penalty.

In addition to Logan's second try there were touchdowns for Chris Sheasby, Joe Worsley and an interception under the Glasgow posts for Andy Gomarsall.

Wasps now face a trip to Ulster on Friday before an important home tie against Swansea. They need to build on their enormous points difference, currently 121, since the four top scoring sides get a home draw and the same criterion will apply for the semi-finals.
