There was no repeat of the Pertemps Bees' famous Powergen Cup heroics yesterday.

There was no repeat of the Pertemps Bees' famous Powergen Cup heroics yesterday.

The Birmingham side, who produced last season's biggest upset by beating Wasps, were completely outplayed at Headingley. Leeds ran in 13 tries against the National League One team, whose only consolation was that they scored two late tries to soften, a little, the gaping margin of defeat.

The Tykes' director of rugby Phil Davies was impressed with his side and said: "It wasn't the scoreline as such but the way we played that I thought was the most important thing. Things that we have been working on on the training field in the last three weeks were in evidence today so I'm very pleased."

"We didn't take them lightly. I watched them and John Callard [Leeds' coach] watched them and we were very methodical in our preparation. We put out our strongest available team on the field."

The Leeds Metropolitan University student Tom Biggs scored a hat-trick of tries for the Tykes and the former England and Lions full-back Tim Stimpson crossed twice.
