At The Twickenham Stoop yesterday, Leicester came from 10-0 down at half-time to beat Harlequins 17-13 and go seven points clear at the top of the Aviva Premiership. Danny Care scored a try for Quins and Nick Evans converted and kicked two penalties. Alesana Tuilagi scored a try for the Tigers, who were also awarded a penalty try, and Toby Flood kicked both conversions and a penalty. Two loosehead props, Quins' Joe Marler and Marcos Ayerza of Leicester, were sent off in the second half after a brawl.

Gloucester scored 24 points in the second half of a 34-9 win over Newcastle at Kingsholm. Freddie Burns scored a try and kicked eight points; Henry Trinder, Jonny May and Rory Lawson also scored tries and Tim Taylor converted one of them. Jimmy Gopperth kicked three penalties for the Falcons, who will be watching Leeds's match against Exeter today with interest. Newcastle are six points clear of Leeds, their next opponents, at the bottom of the table. Gloucester are third; second-placed Saracens play Bath today.

In France, Wales's Gavin Henson enjoyed his first start for Toulon, playing inside-centre in a 38-10 victory over Stade Français. Henson said: "I feel great and more importantly so does my body. It couldn't have gone better for me, to score a try and set up another was a great day. It's a dream come true."

In the Magners League, Glasgow won 17-16 at Aironi, the Ospreys and Cardiff Blues drew 21-21 and a last-minute Ronan O'Gara penalty gave Munster a 24-23 win at home to Leinster.
