Jonathan Pelissie came off the bench to propel Montpellier to a 27-10 win against Benetton Treviso in Heineken Cup Pool Five.

Quarter-finalists in the competition last season, French outfit Montpellier were already in charge at the Stadio Comunale di Monigo by the time Pelissie was introduced in the 55th minute.

He took over from scrum-half Benoit Paillaugue, who had booted 12 points, and added a penalty before crossing for a 67th-minute try - validated by the video referee - that he added the extras to.

Paillaugue had opened the scoring in the second minute and kicked all three of his penalty attempts in the first half, with one reply from Tobias Botes making it 9-3 at the interval.

Montpellier continued to dominate after the break, with Paillaugue added an early penalty before making way for Pelissie.

Pelissie could have matched Paillaugue's points haul but missed a late conversion after Thomas Combezou went over for Montpellier's second try that gave them a 27-3 cushion.

The home side belatedly came to life, with Christian Loamanu's try, converted by Botes, making the scoreline more respectable.

Yet considering Montpellier had Mamuka Gorgodze sin-binned in the first half, and Maximiliano Bustos sent the same way late on, it was all too meek an overall effort in response from the Italians, whose record shows just four wins in this competition over the last eight seasons.
