Dai Young, the Cardiff Blues coach, has emerged as Wasps' favoured candidate in the Premiership club's search for a director of rugby.
While Cardiff maintain "there has been no approach whatsoever" for the man who led Blues to the Amlin Cup last year, Young is understood to be keen to take charge of his first Premiership club and to negotiate a release from his contract, which has a year to run. If appointed, Young would work with Shaun Edwards, the Wales defence coach.
