Rugby World Cup 2019, Japan vs Scotland player ratings: Kenki Fukuoka and Kotaro Matsushima shine
We run the rule over both teams after a thrilling match
Japan qualified for the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup for the first time by beating Scotland 28-21.
Finn Russell scored an early try as Scotland made an electric start, only for the outstanding Kotaro Matsushima to respond.
Keita Inagaki and Kenki Fukuoka ran in further tries before the break as Japan assumed control.
Fukuoka then scored his fourth try of tournament in the opening minutes of second half. And despite late scores from Willem Nel and Zander Fagerson, Scotland could not do enough to secure the victory they so desperately needed.
Here are our player ratings.
