Wales scored nine tries on their way to a 60-14 thrashing of Italy as they ended their championship with their biggest victory in Six Nations history, securing second place in this year's tournament in the process.
While Wales went about building a lead early in the match with Dan Biggar taking a penalty attempt at goal to show their respect to the winless Italians, the back line soon began to run riot, and the home side led 27-0 by the break courtesy of tries from the returning Rhys Webb, Dan Biggar and Jonathan Davis.
If the first half was onimous for Italy, the second would prove torturous as Wales repeated last year's peformance and went for broke, running in tries from seemingly anywhere on the Principality Stadium pitch.
The replacement, Ross Moriarty, scored two tries during the second period while George North scored an incrdible effort from inside his own half as he beat three defenders to go over under the posts.
The rout was completed by tries from Jamie Roberts, Liam Williams and replacement scrum-half Gareth Davies, while Italy did score two consolation tries through Gugliemo Palazzani and Gonzalo Garcia.

Move to the wing saw him get his hands on the ball more, given it was all Welsh ball.

Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings George North - 9 out of 10 First contribution to the game saw him require treatment after a huge tackle from Minto, but he recovered and made the break for Davies to score. Demonstrated his world class ability when he scored from his own half.

Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Jonathan Davies - 8 out of 10 Supported well to receive a pass from Biggar and score the third try, before his rapid flick passed the ball to Williams to lead to another try.

Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Jamie Roberts - 8 out of 10 On Biggar’s shoulder to take a pop pass before giving the ball back for the fly-half to score. Saw the space out wide that led to Davies’ score immediately after.

Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Hallam Amos - 6 out of 10 Rather quiet given the level of attacking ball Wales saw, and he was replaced by Gareth Anscombe in the second half, much to his disappointment as he sensed an opportunity missed.

Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Dan Biggar - 8 out of 10 Made a good start to the match as helped build a lead before line-break resulted in his taking a return pass from Roberts to score the second try. Only missed one kick and managed to get his back-line firing against inferior opposition.

Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Rhys Webb - 8 out of 10 Alert early on to catch the Italian defence sleeping and snipe over for a try five minutes into his return to the starting XV. Could have had a second had it not been for resolute Italian defence, but he’s have been delighted to be back in the international fold when he was replaced by Gareth Davies 15 minutes from time.

Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Rob Evans - 7 out of 10 Cropped up among the backs on occasion and was part of the Davies try in the first half. His strongest work came in the scrum though as he helped give Wales a platform to build on.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Scott Baldwin - 7 out of 10 Strong running, especially at the start of the second half. Lineout throwing was accurate but he was put under little pressure from the Italian jumpers, who tired quickly.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Samson Lee - 7 out of 10 The work he had to do he did to an impressive standard, but like his front-row colleagues it was really the backs who did all the eye-cathcing stuff as Italy put up little opposition in the pack.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Bradley Davies - 7 out of 10 So nearly had a try in the second half only to be hauled down short. Solid as ever.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Luke Charteris - 7 out of 10 Did a lot of running around the fringe, and was one of the more noticeable forwards in the loose.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Dan Lydiate - 7 out of 10 Leading his country for the first time in a Test match suited him, and he’ll look back fondly on the rout. Strong in defence, but under the radar in attack.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Justin Tipuric - 6 out of 10 Saw his game cruelly cut short by injury after falling dangerously to the ground from a line-out. Didn’t return from an HIA and was replaced by Ross Moriarty.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Toby Faletau - 7 out of 10 Incredibly reliable when Wales’ pack was caught going backwards, though he was rarely threatened. Had a couple of powerful carries.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Italy: David Odiete - 6 out of 10 Thought he had a try when he intercepted metres out from his own line and sprinted the length of the pitch to score, only to be called back because one of his team-mates was offside. Struggled in defence given the onslaught of red shirts coming his way.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Leonardo Sarto - 6 out of 10 Looked threatening when given the chance to stretch his legs, but those chances proved all too rare. Marshalled Amos well though and did his defensive duties.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Andrea Pratichetti - 4 out of 10 Very disappointing as he struggled to cope with the power of Roberts and Davies, and he was withdrawn at the break for Kelly Haimona who didn’t fare any better.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Gonzalo Garcia - 6 out of 10 Always one of Italy’s most threatening players given his powerful running. Picked up a try as he crashed over following a neat pass from Allan.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Mattia Bellini - 5 out of 10 Carried off the park with what appeared to be a serious leg injury after making little impact on the game. Replaced by Luke McLean.
Reuters
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Tommaso Allan – 6 out of 10 Struggled to link up any play that left his back line starved of ball. Coped better in attack when he had Haimona on with his to ease the pressure, and neat footwork set-up Garcia’s try.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Guglielmo Palazzani - 6 out of 10 Little he could do to avoid his early sin-bin as Webb took a quick penalty on the Italian 5m. Made a break on the Italian right flank but was given little support. Grew into the game once he returned and can be pleased with his effort, if not anything else.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Andrea Lovotti - 5 out of 10 Crumbled on occasion as Lee took the fight to him in the scrum, but coped better once he worked out his opposite man.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Davide Giazzon - 5 out of 10 Reliable enough in the line-out as he missed two of his 15 throws, and can at least claim that he won the only scrum in which Italy had the put-in – a stat which sums up Italy’s performance.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Martin Castrogiovanni - 5 out of 10 Fitness has never been his strong point, but even the great Castro looked passed it in Cardiff having been recalled to the side. That said, he still loves to scrummage and was given a warm ovation when he made his exit early in the second half.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Quintin Geldenhuys - 4 out of 10 Recalled to the starting XV but had no effect whatsoever on the Welsh line-out and was hauled off midway through the second half.
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Valerio Bernabo - 5 out of 10 Like his second-row partner, he was poor at the set-piece and didn’t get the chance to carry given Italy were starved of ball.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Francesco Minto - 7 out of 10 Left North in a heap with a huge tackle in the first quarter to let the wing know he was a marked man. Tackled as well as ever, but it was a shame his team-mates couldn’t replicate his efforts.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Alessandro Zanni - 5 out of 10 Relatively quiet for the usually busy openside. Outshone by the replacement Moriarty once he came on as he struggled to have any impact on the breakdown.
2016 Getty Images
Wales 60 Italy 14 player ratings Sergio Parisse - 6 out of 10 His commitment never doubted, Parisse didn’t have the type of individual impact that so often lifts his side. Still managed a crucial interception that resulted in his hurting his ankle, but like the true warrior he is he carried on to the end.
