Morris adds extra steel to Leicester's front row

Leicester have continued their recruitment drive by signing the Swansea prop Darren Morris. The 28-year-old Welsh international follows the Italian Test fly-half Ramiro Pez, whose arrival from Rotherham was confirmed on Monday.

Morris, who toured Australia with the Lions two years ago, will beef up Leicester's front-row resources after the departure of props Franck Tournaire and Perry Freshwater to France, as well as Darren Garforth's impending retirement.

The England internationals Phil Christophers and Garath Archer have led a player exodus from Bristol. Christophers has agreed a two-year deal with Leeds, while the Shoguns skipper Archer is to rejoin Newcastle. Alex Brown, Archer's club second-row colleague this season, will be a Gloucester player next term, having secured a two-year contract at Kingsholm.

Harlequins yesterday announced several new signings for next season – including the England prop Mike Worsley and Tongan international Siua Taumalolo. Quins also confirmed that their Lions hooker Keith Wood is to retire from club rugby, while the Perpignan-bound Dan Luger has rejected a new contract.

Worsley, capped during this season's Six Nations Championship, will join Quins from Premiership rivals London Irish. And Taumalolo, a full-back or centre who has played in 26 Tests, has decided on a move to London from the Welsh club Bridgend.

The England prop Phil Vickery could miss Gloucester's Zurich Premiership final date at Twickenham after being cited for an alleged stamp in the match against Leeds on 4 May. Gloucester also face an anxious wait to see if Adam Eustace will be suspended. The lock has been cited for an alleged stamping offence in his side's win over Harlequins on 26 April.
