Alasdair Kirkpatrick, a Wokingham-based project engineer, skippered the National Grid team to victory in the 120-mile final of the Sony Industry Sailing Challenge from Cowes to Poole Fairway buoy and back round the Isle of Wight.

In Nieuwpoort, Belgium, Nick Rogers and Steve Irish were fifth in the 470 European Championship won by Hugo Rocha and Nic Barreto of Portugal.
