Tim Robinson, Jonathon Pudney and Bruce Grant on Racing Post pipped Lawrie Smith, Neal McDonald and Zeb Elliott on Rockport to win, by a countback, the six-race Aquatonic Skiff Grand Prix at Pwllhelli. Robinson had to drop back in the final race to cover Smith, who then incurred a penalty. That allowed Robinson to sail away and win as Smith could manage only third and a tie on points.

The 10 yachts in the Teacher's Round Britain Challenge, two each from England, France, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, left Oban, Scotland, yesterday in pouring rain and light winds at the start of the third leg to Newcastle- upon-Tyne. France has a good lead from Scotland and England at the halfway stage and it was Dominic Bourgeois, of France, who led the way from the Scot, Jon Fitzgerald, and Mark Turner, of England.
