FRANCE stood first and second both in the British and the overall 50ft World Cup yesterday, writes Stuart Alexander from Cowes. Pierre Mass and Betrand Pace, in Corum Saphir, delivered a third and a first place in the last two races.

Overall, Marc Pajot in Citroen leads from Corum, while Britain's Graham Walker in Indulgence slipped from second in the standings to fifth when scoring a fifth and a seventh.

The 150-mile off-shore race of the Two Ton World Cup was won by the New Zealander Neville Crichton in Shockwave.
