Sammy Fuentes, of Puerto Rica, a late replacement, rocked Mexico's Fidel Avendano with a left hook then finished him off in the second round to win the vacant WBO junior welterweight title in Inglewood, California on Monday. Fuentes was rated the WBO's No 9 contender and Avendano was ranked No 1.
