An official review of all-weather racing claims that the sport has reached capacity and that further expansion could damage the very essence of British racing.
The strongest recommendation of the British Horseracing Board's All Weather Track Review Group -in an interim report published yesterday -is that any expansion on top of the existing 125 fixtures on sand should be strictly controlled. New all-weather fixtures should be granted only where it can be demonstrated that the needs of racing as a whole would be served the report said.
nToday's card at Catterick, where snow fell on the track yesterday, is subject to a 7.30am inspection.
