Concern over tomorrow's meeting at Sandown was expressed by officials last night after the track had been affected by prolonged rain.

Andrew Cooper, the clerk of the course, said he was "cautiously optimistic" that Sandown would not become the latest victim of the wet weather.

"We're not anxious at the moment, though I wouldn't like to be absolutely confident,'' Cooper said. ``If we have a dry day we should be all right.''
