DEFEAT by Hibernian could be costly for Rangers, who are likely to be without three defenders for next week's Ibrox fixture against Kilmarnock, writes David McKinney. Basile Boli, who scored in Rangers' 2-1 defeat, will be suspended after being sent off while injury prevented Richard Gough and Dave McPherson from finishing the game.

Boli received a second yellow card minutes from the end and their defensive problems could force Walter Smith, the Rangers manager, to ensure Alan McLaren arrives at Ibrox from Hearts before next Saturday. Despite their defeat Rangers hold on to their Premier Division lead on goal difference, ahead of Celtic, who drew 0-0 with Aberdeen. Tommy Coyne missed two penalties and scored twice in Motherwell's 5-3 defeat of Falkirk. Falkirk, who had Steve Fulton sent off, overcame a 2-0 deficit to lead 3-2 before Motherwell equalised then scored two late goals.
