Swindon Town's tannoy announcer was sacked during Bolton's 1-0 win at the County Ground last night after a public criticism of the referee, Graham Barber. Peter Lewis made his feelings known to the crowd over a red card for Swindon's player-manager, Steve McMahon.

Lewis said at half-time: "I've seen some crap refereeing decisions in my time but. . ." The rest was drowned out by the crowd. He was spoken to by a police officer, called to the secretary's office then escorted from the ground.
