Sixteen to face Swing

Celtic Swing will face a maximum of 16 rivals in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday week. The field for the first Classic dropped by 58 to 17 - six fewer than ran last year - at yesterday's forfeit stage. The 1,000 Guineas had 27 acceptors.

Bahri is the only one of those defeated by Celtic Swing at Newbury on Saturday to take him on again. Diffident, winner of the Free Handicap, was backed with Coral from 8-1 to 6-1 yesterday. Celtic Swing was eased to 4-6 from 8-13.
