Skating: Witt's wisdom in question
Katarina Witt hit the ice for her first full performance as an amateur in five years at the Frankfurt Gala and almost immediately hit the ice. She fell during a triple jump at the start of her four-minute programme on Friday night. With the wisdom of her decision to return to the amateur ranks suddenly in question, the five-time world champion and double Olympic gold medallist barely acknowledged the applause at the end of a routine that she has two more weeks to perfect before the German championship. That will serve as an Olympic trial.
