Snooker: Davis wants a rest for his cue
The Independent on Sunday Steve Davis, who demonstrated his excellent form by thrashing Brian Morgan 5-1 in the second round of the British Open, intends to take a break from the tables ahead of the World Championships even if he fails to retain his domestic title in Plymouth this week. 'I don't really think any more practice would be beneficial,' he said. 'I'm very happy with the way I'm playing.' Doug Mountjoy, at 51, became the oldest player this season to reach the last 16 of a ranking tournament by beating another veteran, Dennis Taylor.
