Peter Ebdon captured the second world ranking tournament title of his career by clinching the Thailand Open at the Century Park Hotel, Bangkok last night.
The Londoner, winner of the Skoda Grand Prix in 1993, took two frames in a row to beat the British Open champion Nigel Bond, 9-7. Ebdon, who also won the invitation Regal Scottish Masters earlier this season, pocketed a first prize of pounds 40,000 and will now climb to third position in the provisional world rankings.
"It's a great feeling to be a winner again and it's just nice to do my job properly for once," Ebdon said. "I felt very determined going into the last session. I wanted this badly because it's been such a long time since I've won a ranking event. It means an awful lot to me."
