AN American footballer who made up a kidnapping tale to cover a curfew violation has been released by the Miami Dolphins. Alfred Oglesby, a defensive linesman, failed to turn up for two consecutive training sessions, saying he had been abducted at gunpoint by two men. He later admitted making up the story, saying he had overslept and was fearful of coach Don Shula's reaction. Oglesby was also fined pounds 2,400.
