BEN JOHNSON finished third in a 50m race at the Hamilton Indoor Games in Ontario. He had said he might set a world record before the event, but was left in the blocks and trailed in behind his fellow Canadian Bruny Surin and Jon Drummond, of the United States. Surin set a Canadian record of 5.67sec.
