GREG MADDUX, the winner of the National League Cy Young award as pitcher of the year for the Chicago Cubs, has signed a dollars 28m ( pounds 18m) five-year contract with the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta's general manager John Schuerholz said the signing 'provides the Atlanta Braves with the most formidable starting rotation in all of baseball'.
