GARY JACOBS will defend the British welterweight title on 9 July in Glasgow against Robert Wright, of Dudley. It will be Wright's second title fight in four months after being stopped in the 11th round in March by the Commonwealth champion, Donovan Boucher of Canada.

DANNY HOLLAND, one of Britain's most respected trainers, died yesterday, aged 85. Holland will be remembered mainly for his association with Henry Cooper, but he was also closely involved with many other leading post-war fighters.
