IRELAND'S Ray Close was stopped in the eighth round of his European super- middleweight challenge by the holder, Franck Nicotra of France, at Pontault- Combault.

MOON SUNG KIL, of South Korea, retained his World Boxing Council super-flyweight title in Seoul when he beat Armando Salazar, of Mexico, on a technical knock-out in the eighth round.
