MICHAEL CARRUTH, who won Ireland's first Olympic boxing gold medal since 1956 in Barcelona, announced in Dublin yesterday that he is to remain an amateur fighter. Carruth said: 'The main reason for my decision to retain my amateur status is the fact that I box for the love of the game and not for money.'
