Wilfredo Vasquez, of Puerto Rico, retained the World Boxing Association junior-featherweight title in Berck, France, last night when he stopped his French opponent, Thierry Jacob, on a cut eye in the eighth round. Earlier on the same bill, Tracy Patterson, of the United States, retained the World Boxing Council super-bantamweight title when he drew with his Mexican challenger, Daniel Zaragoza.
