FIDEL CASTRO SMITH, of Sheffield, lost on all three judges' cards when he tried to win the the vacant European super-middleweight title against the Italian Vincenzo Nardiello in Arricia, Italy yesterday.
BILLY SCHWER took less than three rounds to dispose of the former World Boxing Organisation lightweight champion, Mauricio Aceves, of Mexico, at the Grand Hall, Wembley, last night. Aceves, who is 32 today, suffered a cut over his left eye which prompted the referee, Roy Francis, to stop the fight. But Schwer, having his first bout since winning the British and Commonwealth titles from Carl Crook in October, was himself cut under his left eye.
