DEREK ANGOL'S future will be decided by the European Boxing Union at Geneva on 9 January when it hears a French appeal against their decision to clear the cruiserweight of using a stimulant after his unsuccessful European title fight against Akim Tafer, of France, in October. The British Boxing Board of Control had explained Angol was using a prescribed medicine. The drug, phenylpropanolamine, is not on the EBU list of banned substances, drawn up in 1983, but it is on the Olympic list which the French sports ministry follows.
