PETER VAN DEN ABEELE, a Belgian professional, has been sent home from the world cyclo-cross championships at Pordenone, Italy after failing a drugs test. He was tested two weeks ago after finishing third in the Belgian round of the Super Prestige series at Zillebeke. A sample showed traces of the stimulant, ephedrine.
