THE ORGANISERS of the 147-mile Leeds World Cup classic, have responded to criticism that this year's race was too tough, by not including the severe and testing climb at Scar Head, near Sowerby Bridge, for next year's event on 15 August.

CHRIS BOARDMAN, the Olympic pursuit champion, has been named North-west sportsman of the year by the Variety Club of Great Britain.
