CARDIFF CITY's quest to re-sign their former captain, Paul Ramsey, from St Johnstone has been stopped by the Football League. The League has invoked rule 53, which states that a transferred player cannot return to his former club within a 12-month period without the prior consent of the Board.

ANTHONY BUCKLEY, the Cork City midfielder, has been added to the Republic of Ireland squad for the European Under-21 Championship tie against Spain at Drogheda on 12 October.
