LAURA DAVIES, winner of the English Open last weekend, and Trish Johnson will represent England at the inaugural women's world team championship for the Sunrise Cup in Taipei, Taiwan, from 16-18 October. Dale Reid and Pam Wright have been selected for Scotland while Karen Davies and Helen Wadsworth will line up for Wales. A total of 16 countries will play over 54 holes for more than pounds 260,000.
PAUL CARMAN, from Huddersfield, was taken to hospital with an infected toe after opening his defence of the European Club Professionals' Championship in Broekpolder, Netherlands, with a three-over-par 76, four strokes behind the leader, Claude Grenier of Austria.
