MILAN is expected to announce today the withdrawal of its bid to host the 2000 Games. The withdrawal has been confirmed by Massimo Moratti, the former bid committee president who resigned after the city government gave only narrow support to the project. Moratti said the political and economic crisis in Italy's financial capital 'made the decision to withdraw the candidacy a necessary choice'.
