LEADING women skiers boycotted World Cup downhill training on the Olympic track at Hafjell, Norway, yesterday because the slope is not demanding enough. They said courses like the Hafjell downhill, planned for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, did not present enough opportunity to highlight their fast-improving skills.
SPAIN stages its first Alpine World Cup meeting for 16 years this weekend, with a downhill and slalom to test the venue for the next World Championships in 1995. Tommy Moe, of the United States, produced the fastest time in both days' practice on the the 3.61km Veleta course in the southern Sierra Nevada mountains.
