STEVE DAVIS reached the the semi-finals of the British Open for the third successive year at the expense of Ireland's Ken Doherty in Derby yesterday. The five times world champion went 4-0 up in 69 minutes, but then lost the next four frames before securing a 5-4 victory with a break of 75. Doherty later suffered another setback when he was overtaken in the race for the tournament's highest break by James Wattana, who had a 132 clearance on his way to a 5-2 win over Tony Drago.
