JAMES WATTANA, of Thailand, won the Coalite World Matchplay Championship in Doncaster last night by beating Steve Davis 9-4 in the final. Wattana, who won the last three frames after Davis had cut the deficit to 6-4, collected pounds 70,000 pounds for his victory. Davis, the five times former world champion from Romford, received pounds 35,000 as runner-up plus pounds 5,000 for the tournament's highest break of 141.
