MITOIZUMI, a middle-ranked rikishi, remained undefeated with the Hawaiian ozeki (champion) Konishiki and three other wrestlers just behind at 6-1 after the seventh day of the 15-day Nagoya Grand Tournament. The three were the American komusubi (junior champion, second class) Musashimaru, the No 2 maegashira Kyokudozan and the No 13 maegashira Terao. Mitoizumi, the top-ranked maegashira (senior wrestler) survived a throw attempt by komusubi Misugisato (4-3) and pushed his opponent out.
