MARTIN POTTER, Britain's 1989 world champion, yesterday advanced to the quarter-finals of the Gunston 500, at Durban North Beach, South Africa, on his first visit back to the country where he was raised. Potter, who was born in Northumberland, raised in South Africa and who now lives near Sydney, will face Australia's Gary Elkerton today for a place in the semi-finals. In the women's event yesterday, Rochelle Ballard, from Hawaii, won her first victory on the pro tour by defeating Australia's Kylie Webb.
