MARK FOSTER, the 22-year-old British swimmer who broke short-course world records in the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly over the past 10 days, was beaten twice in the final round of the World Cup in Milan last night. Despite a fast start in the 100m freestyle, he finished third behind Alexandr Popov, of Russia, and in the 50m butterfly, he came second to Jan Karlsson, of Sweden. Today Foster meets Popov in the 50 metres freestyle.
