BORIS BECKER has pulled out of next week's Japan Open because of a cold. It will be the fifth tournament the former Wimbledon champion has missed this year because of illness or injury.
JIM COURIER, the world No 1, lost 7-5, 7-6, to Israel's Amos Mansdorf in the semi-finals of the Salem Open in Osaka, Japan, yesterday. Mansdorf meets another American, Michael Chang, in today's final.
