THE New England Patriots yesterday signed the quarterback, Drew Bledsoe, the No 1 pick in this year's National Football League draft, on one of the most lucrative contracts ever awarded to a college draft choice. The deal is believed to be worth about dollars 14.5m ( pounds 9m) over six years.
