The Brazilian marathon world record holder Ronaldo da Costa will take part in this year's Great North Run half-marathon in Newcastle on 10 October. Da Costa will run against the defending champion and the Olympic gold medallist, Josiah Thugwane of South Africa. Britain's world 10,000 metres silver medallist, Paula Radcliffe, will make her half-marathon debut in the women's race.
