Great Britain have named Richard Nerurkar, Mark Hudspith, and Dave Buzza for the marathon at the European Championships in Budapest, which start on 18 August. Alison Wyether is Britain's sole women's representative.

The women's pole vault and hammer throw will be part of the 1999 World Championships and the 2000 Olympics.

Michael Johnson has pulled out of tomorrow's Grand Prix meeting in Osaka, Japan, with a hamstring injury.
