THE British Athletic Federation has appointed Barry Snellgrove, 46, to the new position of commercial director. Snellgrove has been involved in sports marketing for 10 years.

RUTH FUCHS, East Germany's former Olympic javelin champion, admitted yesterday she took steroids on her way to two gold medals in the 1970s. She said she did not have a bad conscience over it as it did not affect her performances and she was convinced other athletes were doing the same.
