Eamonn Coghlan, the first man over 40 years old to run a mile in less than four minutes, will come out of retirement for a special handicap mile at Oxford's Iffley Road track. The race, on 7 May, is part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of the first sub-four minute mile by Roger Bannister. Two former world record holders, Peter Snell of New Zealand and Jim Ryun of the United States, will also take part.

STUTTGART, the venue for last year's World Championships, is planning to stage the second most expensive meeting this season with a budget of dollars 2.4m ( pounds 1.6m). Only Zurich's Weltklasse is likely to have a larger budget. The meeting is planned for 27 or 28 August.
