MARK McKOY, Canada's 110 metres hurdles Olympic gold medallist in 1992, has withdrawn from the Canadian team for the Commonwealth Games in August. He is to become an Austrian citizen, having lived there for a year.

THE four-times world pole vault champion, Sergei Bubka, is to miss the European Championships in Helsinki in August. The 30-year-old Ukrainian said: 'I have been competing at the highest level for 10 years and I'm tired. I can't be everywhere.'
