SEVERAL leading Kenyan runners, including the Olympic 3,000 metres steeplechase champion, Mathew Birir, could be banned by their federation from the world championships in Stuttgart in August after opting out of the African championships, which start in Durban today, to race in European grand prix meetings instead.
