NEGOTIATIONS between players and owners aimed at ending the Major League strike broke off on Thursday, just one day after the start of full- scale face-to-face talks and 14 days into the work stoppage. So far 182 games have been lost in a strike called by players protesting at a proposed salary cap next season.
